The most common eye infection is Conjunctivitis. Allergic rhinitis, known as hay fever, also has an affect on the eyes.

It is important to consult with your Optometrist to determine if the symptoms are an allergy or an infection.

  • Stuffy nose, sneezing, red itchy eyes
  • Watery eyes
  • Swelling around the eyes
  • Yellow discharge that crusts over the eye lashes

A viral or bacterial infection is the cause for conjuctivitis. Allergic conjunctivitis is an allergic reaction to pollen and mold spores.

Treatments range from eye drops, antibiotics, ointments and oral medications.

In more severe cases, a mild steroid eye drop medication may be prescribed
